PayPal Builds Targeted Advertising Platform with New Leadership
A New Era for Advertising at PayPal
PayPal is leveraging its extensive network of millions of consumers and merchants to create a groundbreaking advertising platform. This new initiative is designed to enhance merchants’ ability to effectively reach and engage customers while helping consumers discover products and services they love. The platform, rooted in commerce, will utilize customer insights to deliver a dynamic and personalized advertising experience, optimizing advertising spend for merchants and providing compelling offers for consumers.
Mark Grether brings over two decades of expertise in the advertising industry to PayPal. His previous role as Vice President and General Manager of Uber Advertising saw him grow the business to a $1 billion enterprise, with a network of over 500,000 advertisers globally. Grether’s leadership in accelerating Uber’s advertising capabilities across its Mobility and Delivery divisions highlights his ability to drive growth and innovation. His extensive background includes leading product strategy for Amazon’s advertising business and serving as CEO of Sizmek, one of the largest independent advertising platforms globally, which was acquired by Amazon in 2019. Grether also co-founded and served as global COO of Xaxis, a prominent programmatic media company under WPP.
“Commerce and advertising are deeply connected, and we believe that the advertising platform we are building at PayPal will become a must-use marketing channel for merchants big and small. I’m thrilled to have Mark join our team and lead this important work,” said Scotti.
