Holcim Philippines is committed to the highest standards of environmental responsibility, with operations adhering to relevant laws and regulations. Aside from our commitment to environmental compliance and stewardship, we implement programs related to circular economy, climate and water to contribute to the achievement to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Our respect for the environment and sound practices are well recognized by both the private sector and government agencies. In 2011, Holcim Philippines was awarded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources its Seal of Approval for exemplary environmental performance under the agency’s Philippine Environment Partnership Program. Our plants have also been consistently recognized by the Department of Energy with the Don Emilio Abello Energy Efficiency Awards for improving operational efficiency and reducing carbon footprint.

Communities

Holcim Philippines directly assisted 356,917 individuals in 2018 through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives under its Holcim Helps program. With this, the company has aided more than 600,000 people since 2015 to surpass its commitment to the LafargeHolcim Group of assisting 400,000 people by 2020.  

The company invested the highest share of its Holcim Helps budget on initiatives for Livelihood and Inclusive Business (34.5 ), followed by Infrastructure and Shelter (22.3 ) and Education (21.3 ).

Among the CSR highlights in 2018 were the potable water system project in La Union, the welding course for the community in Bulacan, hand washing facilities for daycare centers in Misamis Oriental, and the forklift operations training in Davao. Employees and other partners across Holcim sites also actively participated in volunteer programs throughout the year.

Corporate Citizenship Programs

Galing Mason

Our flagship program is focused on uplifting Filipino masons through skills training and recognition of their important contribution in building the essential structures of society.

The graduates of the program are certified by a government authority, TESDA, as skilled laborers which opens up better opportunities for them.

This program has three components:
a. ‘galing Mason Training which is a skills training and certification program that provides basic and advanced masonry skills training for prospective and uncertified masons.
b. ‘galing Mason Olympics which allows our highly-skilled masons to participate in regional skills Olympics up to the world competition.
c. ‘galing Mason Awards – a search for the most outstanding mason in the country. The winning mason is not only recognized for his/her skills but also as a respected person in the community.

Foster a Child’s Education (FACE)

FACE is Holcim Philippines’ CSR program for education. FACE provides direct and supplemental educational assistance to deserving primary and secondary students all over the country. 

Every year, FACE helps build the future for more than 500 Filipino students by harnessing employee volunteerism, external partnerships and sponsorship.

Disaster Response Initiatives and Value-Creating Engagements (DRIVE)

With Health and Safety as its overarching goal, Holcim Philippines helps with Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) initiatives in the country through its DRIVE Program.
